Old business:
- Discount
cards: Being sold right now. They are $10 each. The consensus is that they
are selling much easier than last year. The
bill was $3600 for all of them. We could
make $16,400 if all are sold.
- Pork Chop
stand for Home Football games: Wendy and Donna have taken care of it for
the last several years. Since no one
volunteered to take over, Donna and Wendy will take care of it again. A signup sheet was passed around to work the
stand during the games.
- Meet the
Mustangs Membership drive: Parent group may be serving pork chops that
evening, and there is a middle school baseball game with its usual
concessions. Otherwise, band will be
manning the concessions during football games. Wendy Kuhn will take new
memberships at the volleyball game, and Sarah Donley will take them at the
baseball/football game.
- Mark
Thompson middle school football: Since the YMCA dropped the 7th
and 8th grade football program on short notice, they are trying to
put together a school team and schedule.
There are 21 players from Unity and Payson interested in playing. Were able to get some shoulder pads from a
program that was going to throw some away. Each player will provide their own
pants and pads for the pants. The money
they are asking for will go toward helmets and jerseys. The parent group will also be supporting
them. They will be able to offer
football for less than the Y charged. Craig Burwinkel made the motion that we
give $1200 to help start up the middle school football program, seconded by
Donna Jansen
- Friends
of Unit 4: Is a new group started to support all extra-curriculars at Unity
such as band, FFA and sports. It is sort
of an alumni group. Since there is no
PTO anymore they are hoping to fill a void left by that. Andy Obert would like to see the kids helping
with the fundraising. Their first event
will be held September 26 and the fairgrounds with several events occurring
though the day.
- High
School Girls Basketball: Brad Begeman asked for half the cost of four new
uniforms as the number of girls playing has increased this year. Sarah Donley made the motion to give $400 and
Marcia Cornwell seconded.
- High
School Cheerleading: New uniforms for 12 girls this year – ½ is $660. They have been fundraising this summer to
cover their half. Wendy Kuhn made the
motion to pay and Andy Obert seconded.
- Brad
Voth: suggested it might be appropriate to pay our volunteer coaches for
middle school softball, basketball assistants and cross country, since we pay
the golf coach. It was the general
consensus of the club that we would not be able to cover all those expenses and
golf is different as it was cut from the curriculum and these were added
programs that were to be self funding.
- Rob
Duncan and Bill Evans memorials: Tammy reminded the club that this money
should be used in a way that can be seen by the families.
