Minutes of Meeting
Sunday, February 26, 2023
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Sunday, February 26 in the Middle School cafeteria at 6pm. President Stiefel called the meeting to order with 5 individuals present.
Secretary Report: no formal report. Johanna Voss stepped in and will provide reports moving forward.
Treasurer Report: same as last month, Treasurer not present. Bank records need to be reconciled, Sommer will work on that before the March Meeting.
Membership #: No formal number at this time, rebuilding.
Old Business:
· Huddle: Sports Boosters wrote a $6800 check December 27,2022. Principle Arnsman is looking into the contract and possibility of different option when we are set to renew. Review of old emails states Sports Boosters would pay $3,000, Football an amount and each sport activity fund would pay an amount. Discussion around why Sports Boosters footed such a chunk of bill. AD Hustead asked what Sports Boosters was willing to continue paying as the school looks to renew contract. Members agreed that additional information would be needed before supply an amount to commit too. What sports use the system, how much is it utilized, quotes on packages.
· Football Concessions: Class of 2025 has committed to the next two years of concessions stands operations for football games (HS and JFL).
· Scoreboard: small committee between school admin, sports boosters, sportsman club and friends of unit 4 needs to be developed to further the discussion around the HS gym scoreboard as new information was provided on the baseball scoreboard. See New Business Notes for further discussion.
· Sink in Middle School Concessions Stand: still needs to be addressed with the school. Made the priority list created later in the meeting to discuss with the school administration.
· Wall mats in HS gym: AD Hustead is working on getting quotes.
· Baseball Lights: have been taken care of!
New Business:
· Scoreboards: Matt Rolando brought to attention the need of a baseball scoreboard for the Spring Season. The current one is no longer working. This wrapped into a larger discussion with the need/want of HS gym scoreboard and possible Elementary School scoreboard. Could we get a discount if the company we go through new we were looking at 2-3 new boards? The Baseball Coach had heard there was a $20,000 coming for the scoreboard, but no one seems to know where this information came from. Matt Rolando is going to ask when contacting Pepsi. What are the needs with HS scoreboard. A $50,000 option has been mentioned that would include digital screen, LED, player lineups and shot clock compatible. Thought was that we didn't need all the bells and whistles on the digital screen. Several parents can be trained on how to use so more than just one person can operate the clock at home events. More discussion is needed around boards but baseball scoreboard is a priority due to the season starting soon.
· Priority List: It was discussed that we need to know what the school is aware of, has plans for and what they are financially responsible for. From here we can work with the school to supply and possibly get what we believe is the right fit for our athletic programs. We need more communication from school administration and our coaches. Priority list to take to school admin so discussion can begin.
o Baseball Scoreboard
o Sink in Middle School Concessions
o HS Gym Mats (and removing pull-up bars)
o High School Gym Scoreboard

· MVIT: Cheer coach approached AD Hustead about bringing back the cheer competition award. Last done in 2010? We will revisit when the tournament gets back to 8 teams.
· Astroturf: Football Cheerleaders would like to explore the option of astroturf to lay across track while cheering during home football games.
· Pepsi: Matt is going to reach out to Pepsi about the status of our contract and the number of cases we have left in contract. There was a suggestion of a “buy out” event where we sell the items at cost in hopes of getting through the cases to get out of the contract quicker.
· Meeting Schedule: it was decided that meetings will be held on the last Sunday of each month moving forward.
· Uniforms: Johanna Voss will create a new rotation schedule for review at the March Meeting. High School Girls Basketball and Middle School Boys Basketball are the most recent uniform purchases by Sports Boosters. 2015: Football, Softball, Volleyball, basketball Cheer.
· Fundraiser Ideas: With the list of items being brought to our attention we are going to need to do a fundraiser or two outside of the Activity cards and MVIT? Alumni Event – August 12th? Flag Football and Home Run Derby possibly event Volleyball. More discussion in March.
