Minutes of Meeting January 7, 2015
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, January 7, in the Middle School Cafeteria. President Klusmeyer called the meeting to order with 10 members present.
The secretary’s report was given by Sarah Donley, and approved by Donna Jansen and Brad Begeman.
The treasurer’s report was given by Richard Klusmeyer and approved by Andy Obert and Kelle Begeman.
Membership: current membership is 84.
Old business:
· MVIT: Liberty will be going to the WIU tournament next year. Currently potential future teams that will attend are: Griggsville-Perry, Brown County, North Shelby and Western. Biggsville West Central’s coach was very complimentary of the tournament and how the players were fed and the hospitality room. Looking into live streaming the game into the hospitality room and the cafeteria again. Andy Obert said he heard all nice comments from bus drivers and about the hospitality room. Having gym ambassadors worked out well. The amount of pizza for players needs to be cut back – lots left over this year. Pulled pork went over very well. Jimmy Johns might be a cut that could be made next year. Tournament brackets should return to the program next year, and team rosters sorted by numbers. The 2015 tournament will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
· Trivia Night: Currently have 13 teams. Suggested for next year that each team could supply a gift basket for the silent auction.
· Popcorn Fundraiser: Have a few items to sell as cut rate – hopefully will come out a little over expenses.
· Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser – Middle School, Seth reported no news.
New business:
· 3 on 3 tournament: March 21 is the date this year, fliers will go out in a week. Tammy Hildebrand sends them out. Sara Klusmeyer is head of the kitchen committee. Coach Krietemeyer will get a cleanup crew together from the football team.
· Summer picnic: Donna Jansen asked if we are planning to go ahead with this. Originally were planning to have it in April before JUCfest and tie it in with spring sports. Phil Conover said that in the past they had a successful one right before school starts, where they introduced new coaches and recruited new members. Donna suggested setting up a committee to help investigate it. Mr. Kurz might be interested in serving.
AD Report: No ADs present
Coaches reports:
Brad Begeman: Varsity girls are currently 13-2, lost to two good teams. The team is exceeding his expectations. They will have 12 days off, then start the Central tournament Saturday.
8th grade appreciation is Monday night.
Seth Klusmeyer: Middle school volleyball has 15 7th graders and 12 8th graders. The 7th and 8th grade boys’ regionals will be hosted here.
Next meeting will be Wednesday, February 4, due to girls’ basketball regionals being the week of the 9th.
Meeting was adjourned by Andy Obert and Brad Begeman
