Minutes of Meeting July 21, 2010
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in the UHS baseball shelter house. President Goertz called the meeting to order with 16 members
present.
The secretary’s report from April was approved by Sue Woodworth and Wendy Kuhn.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister. She reported a beginning balance of 28,630.48 with receipts of 109.09, and disbursements of 2,304.77.
The ending balance is 26,434.80, with 16,434.80 in the checking account. There are two $5,000 CDs. Treasurer’s report was approved by Andy Obert and Donna Jansen.
A thank you note from the after prom committee was read by President Goertz.

Old business:

Officials pay – Seth – all contracts for coming year are complete, so he recommends tabling this until this winter or spring when the new ones are signed.
·
Trophy case – Greg – 3 bids: for the case on the south side – Pat Hiland (sp) $3200 installed – for whole wall 16’ x 8’ high. Oak sliding or swing doors with storage
below. Tempered glass adds $300. Concord cabinets $6700 – no electricity + $750 to install. Klingsmith – wood top of line with electric all glass top to bottom. Donna Jansen made motion to go with Hiland, Sue Woodworth 2nd. Dave Wittler suggested maple wood for its hardness.

Fencing – Board approved $4,000. $3,900 to go from dept. to put gate by water pump. Right field with board’s money, booster’s money for the rest.
3-4 weeks for special order.

Trivia night – Rob, Wendy, Donna and Andy Obert – date has not been determined yet -Legion hall will be location. Plan on a January date.
Specific planning will begin Oct-Nov.
New business:

Meet the Mustangs will be August 20, volleyball at 5:00, MS baseball will be playing Western.
·
Tailgate: all home football games
·
Football benches –permanent benches will be placed on the football field (instead of borrowing the baseball benches)
·
Outdoor PA system – Dave and Cathy Wittler approached the club for assistance with the cost of installing speakers that would reach the football field and not go
right to the bleachers. Cost was estimated to be $250-$400 with football parents group paying half. It was suggested that this would be useful to more
sports than just football, such as track and baseball, and therefore, motion was made to pay full cost. Motion by Rob Kuhn and 2nd by Sue Woodworth.

Football program ad – The Wittlers also asked if the club would be interested in taking out an ad in the football program. Motion made to take full page ad made
by Greg Hildebrand and Tammy Hildebrand. Julie McAllister and Sarah Donley will create and submit.

Homecoming parade float – volunteer – table until next meeting
·
Volleyball uniforms – Seth – is looking at replacing the 2nd set of uniforms this year. Projected cost will be $900. Motion to pay $450 toward made by Julie McAllister
and 2nd by Tammy ilHildebrand.Hildebrand.

Baseball field conditioning – Greg has been in contact with FS/Growmark about quick drying materials to mix with the dirt.
This company would teach our people how to care for it, this could be a cheaper method for improving the field.

Girls’ concession stand for softball field - Andy Obert– he must first ask the school board and contact an architect or draw up plans and have them approved.

3 on 3 date – March 12, 2011. Motion made by Julie McAllister and 2nd by Donna Jansen.
AD report – There were three new coaches hired – assistant volleyball coach – Diana Rush, Girls head basketball coach – Brad Begeman, Girls’ Middle School head coach – Tim Nutt. Openings – HS assistant girls’basketball coach and middle school girls’ assistant coach.

Todd Saxton golf – Thanked the club for providing his compensation to coach the team. Aug 12 is their first practice 10 have been showing up for summer
events.
Next meeting will be 7:00 August 18, 2010 in the Middle School Cafeteria.
