Unity Sports Boosters Club
Minutes of Meeting March 9, 2011
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in the Middle School Cafeteria. President Goertz called the meeting to order with 18 members present.
The secretary’s report from February was approved by Sue Woodworth and Tammy Hildebrand.
A thank you note from the Klusmeyers was read by President Goertz.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister. She reported a beginning balance of $21,165.01 with receipts of $2,197.00, and disbursements of 1,060.06. The ending balance is $22,301.95. The report was approved by Susan Blickhan and Donna Jansen.
Membership: current membership is 81
Old business:
Baseball field: baseball field still waiting on weather.
Trivia night - had a really great night- there were 13 teams. Wendy made motion to donate $500 to golf team for their help, Andy Obert second. Thirteen teams was
probably the maximum to fit in that location.
3 on 3 - Greg - JWCC officials still up in the air - taping will be done Friday night around 6:00.
Baseball uniforms - Brad Voth and Trevor Hull looking for new uniforms – $3,618 is total - 1/2 would be $1,809. They are on the schedule - Donna Jansen made motion Tammy Hildebrand 2nd.
Girls’ softball concession stand: Bob Venvertloh drew up plans. Two different options - 17,396 and 16,558 - extra storage area the difference. Adding bathrooms would get up to IHSA code so we could host regionals if we want to. They are asking for about $6000 from Sports boosters. The storage area would be multipurpose including teachers. Sidewalks would go around the stand (3 sides). Donna Jansen moved $3,000 donation and $3,000 to be paid back sometime. Sara Klusmeyer 2nd. Motion passed. They will be going to the board for design approval.
New Business:
MVIT Program: the company would like us to sign a contract for the next year's MVIT. We will have to approve the ad prices before we sign. Sue Woodworth and Wendy
Kuhn made motion to sign the contract - motion carried.
Nominating committee for officers:
Tammy Hildebrand: Susan Blickhan and Sherri Fuller are appointees.
Coach Asbury - 19 boys going to Louisiana, MO for weightlifting competition. Payson has already donated $100 - entry fee. Payson has paid last 2 years in full and
this year he is asking for $100 from Unity. Andy Obert and Greg Hildebrand made motion.
Badminton tournament: Wendy Kuhn suggested as a new idea for fundraising.
AD report: Seth reported that budget cuts are coming and athletics will be the first to go, so be prepared.
Coach’s reports:
Sue Woodworth Volleyball – 8th 10-11 2 wins in regional play 6:00 vs. Liberty in championship. 7 th grade record is 14-8
HS girls track started with 14 and at least ½ have never been out before.
There are 13 boys out. The season begins at the end of March. There are two invitationals coming and would like help.
Next meeting April 20 at 7:00 p.m.
