Minutes of Meeting May 7, 2014
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, May 7, in the Middle School Cafeteria. President Klusmeyer called the meeting to order with 16 members present.
The secretary’s report was given by Sarah Donley, and approved by Susan Blickhan and Christina Meyer.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister and approved by Sherri Fuller and Christina Meyer.
Membership: current membership is 104.

New business:
Kevin Kreitemeier: Feels the team will be stronger per athlete as a team next year. There will be four seniors. Football camp will be held this Friday for 5th-9th graders. June 9 and 13 will be a varsity camp. Middle school camp will be July 14 and 18. Fundraiser will pay for the new irrigation system. He is hoping to build a building for a football locker room near the football field, with 50 lockers on each side (boys side and girls side). Hopes to achieve this within 5 years. $3700 went to jerseys, helmets and shoulder pads. He is very pleased with most of the kids so far. He and Coach Carothers would like to paint the weight . Hopes to host a 7 on 7.
Brad Begeman: Approximately 18 players next year – no seniors. Gary Hackmann to come and work with the girls to prevent injuries. Uniforms are ordered. Maggie Bowles will play in the all-star game. Whitney Murphy will be playing at Culver-Stockton.
Rob Kuhn: Currently has 10 each for 7th and 8th grade. Lots of summer activities coming up.
Greg Hildebrand: ended the season 9-14. The team is fairly young. 3 girls made 1st team, Maggie Bowles, Jordan Hildebrand and Olivia Voss. Piper Obert honorable mention. Smaller numbers coming up next year.
Next meeting will be August 6 at 7:00.

Old business:
- Discount
card for 2014-15 school year: Christina decided to stay with the same
company and handed out $15 cards today. They were signed out, and each athlete
received 20 cards. They will pay for all
incentives. Kids have to sell less cards at this higher price to receive the
incentives. She gave them out early so
they could have them at the fair. They
may only be turned in to her or Mr. Dorethy.
So far they have only been given to the high school athletes. The first collect ion day will be July 21
from 4-6:30, 2nd August 25, wrap-up will be September 25.
- Nomination
of Officers: Donna Jansen reported that Wendy Kuhn volunteered to serve as
Vice President. Richard Klusmeyer will
continue as President. Kelly Miller
volunteered to take over as Treasurer from Julie McAllister, who has served for
15 years. Sarah Donley will continue as
Secretary. Motion was made to accept the officers by Christina Meyer and
seconded by Susan Blickhan.
- MVIT:
Christina reported that we now have 8 teams contracted for the 2014 tournament.
That will take us back to the old schedule.
New business:
- Softball
field: Greg received approval from the board to make improvements to the
softball field, including moving the scoreboard to center field. This will
require running electricity to the new location. The football field is also getting new electricity
to power the irrigation system. Greg
will check to see if the two can work together.
He is asking for $2500 to cover materials. Greg made the motion, and Donna Jansen
seconded.
- Golf: Christina made a motion to catch up the golf
team payment for $1000, Donna Jansen seconded.
- New
members: Wendy suggested bringing a friend to the August meeting.
All-school registration is August 5th, we will again have a table to
sign up new members.
- Retirement
gift for Sue Woodworth: Donna suggested giving a gift in the amount of
$100, including a plaque of appreciation for her party in July. Tammy
Hildebrand made the motion and Wendy Kuhn seconded.
- Unit 4
foundation: producing a video for their November 8 event and have invited
the boosters to be involved.
AD Report: Will set date for spring sports banquet. The format will be carry-in desserts. Three boys are going to the IHSA track meet – Cory Miller, Mark Jansen and Alex Blickhan. Middle school took 17 to state. Megan Adams and Michael Pratt medaled.
