Unity Sports Boosters Club
Minutes of Meeting November 9, 2011
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in the Middle School cafeteria. President Klusmeyer called the meeting to order with 18 members present.
The secretary’s report from October was approved by Sue Woodworth and 2nd by Donna Jansen.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister. She reported a beginning balance of $16,368.45 with receipts of $773.00, and disbursements of $417.64. The ending balance is $16,723.81. The report was approved by Sue Woodworth and 2nd by Paul Littleton.
Membership: current membership is 74.
Old business:
· HOF plaques: sports boosters have always paid for them in the past. According to president Klusmeyer, they still need to be approved.
· Basketball cheerleaders: There arefour competitions in December. They don’t know which they will attend yet.
· Middle School Gym Scoreboards: Have been installed.
· MVIT: Donna is still looking for someone to head up the cheerleading award and hospitality room. The policy for who uses the hospitality room will be up to the new head.
Richard will again do honorary coaches as Paul Bealor can't do it.
Still need to follow up with Matt Woodworth about the parking for buses.
New business:
· Youth Basketball League baskets: They are hoping to get eight teams from the area of 1st and 2nd graders and to get more instruction and practice than they get at the Y. They would need more lower baskets to use in the middle school, and they can use them for practice too. They have 31 kids from Unity alone, so the league is definitely a go. It will be Saturday mornings. The last baskets were bought in 2003 for $798 total (maybe with shipping and tax). Currently $750/pair in the catalogs. They just need one pair. Tim Nutt made the old ones adjustable and has agreed to do the same for the new ones. Sue Woodworth would use them for PE as well. Donna made motion to purchase - 2nd by Sara Klusmeyer.
· CD up for renewal: (just one) Seth Klusmeyer made motion to renew, Brad Begeman 2nd.
Motion carried.
AD report: AD report: Scoreboards are installed - high school girls basketball started last week, boys basketball started this week. The fall awards banquet is coming up.
Coaches reports:
Greg Hildebrand - 8th grade was in Rex Truebe tournament. Going into regular season with a record of 1-2 tomorrow night and 7th grade Liberty tournament is next week. There are 18 kids working hard and doing well.
Diana Rush– volleyball: The freshmen ended 6-3 the games they lost they played very well. JV ended 15-6.
Seth: Varsity volleyball- won regional, sectional and lost in the supersectional to tie the best record in Unity history. Record was 31-9 on season. We were in the final 8.

Lexi Mayberry - official cheerleading practices started this week. Final fitting for uniforms will be this week.
Brad Begeman. Girls basketball started a little late because of the volleyball post season. There are nineteen girls total. Almost all were there Sunday. Ryan Kenady did clean the bathrooms, didn't want any thanks.
Bobbette Keefe – Middle School cheerleading going well. The girls have moved over away from the door, so as not to block traffic. There are eight on the squad; five 8th graders, three 7th graders. The will cheer only at home this year.

Middle School girls basketball 7th record 18-0, 8th is 13-5. They have been down to 2 8th graders with injuries. They will be a good group in the future. Also 6th grade is doing well.
Seth introduced David Woodruff - will be the softball coach. The field has been leveled. Concession stand plans have changed.
Middle school volleyball starts first week of Dec., or when basketball is over.
