Unity Sports Boosters Club
Minutes of Meeting October 20, 2010
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in the Middle School Cafeteria. Vice President Hildebrand called the meeting to order with 15 members present.
The secretary’s report from September was approved by Sherri Fuller and Tammy Hildebrand.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister. She reported a beginning balance of 26,577.93 with receipts of 536.96, and disbursements of 508.17.
The ending balance is 26,606, with 21,606.72 in the checking account. There is one $5,000 CD due this month. Motion was made to renew the CD at First Bankers Trust for 6 months at .5% by Wendy Kuhn and Susan Blickhan. Treasurer’s report was approved by Wendy Kuhn and Peggy Duesterhaus.
Membership: current membership is 75
Old business:
Golf :A note from Todd Saxton thanking the club for its support of the golf team and their successes from the year was read.

Fencing:Will be working on this weekend. Specific information will be emailed to club members.
·
Tailgate:Up to about $700 profit so far. There were several competitors at Homecoming – final game should be a good money
maker.
·
Baseball scoreboard: We have signed a 3 year contract, so Pepsi will provide a new wireless scoreboard.
·
Gym wall:completed and looks very nice.
·
Refinishing MS gym floor: Very slick and all dirt was sealed down – not a good job.
·
Trophy case: Greg Hildebrand brought stain samples for the club to vote on – overwhelmingly for the darker stain.
Discussed types of locks for the doors and which were necessary. Lights will be LED.
New Business:
·
Volleyball regionals: Motion made to donate $100 for hospitality room made by Sue Woodworth and Wendy Kuhn.
·
Girls HS basketball tournament and Rex Truebe Colts Classic: motion made to donate $150 for both made by Donna Jansen and 2nd by Keith
Carothers.
·
Electronic sign: Seth Klusmeyer reported that there is a desire to replaced the sign in front of the school with an electronic one. Total cost would be maximum
$16,000. Looking for approx. $2,000 from each donor.
·
MVIT chairs: Donna is beginning to line up chair people for MVIT committees
Pizza night – Sherri Fuller
Honorary coaches –
Sportsmanship – Greg Hildebrand
Advertising – proposal to turn over to professional printing service – the same as the HOF committee
uses. There will be two programs the first night of the tournament – one for the HOF and one for the tournament.
Rope Holders- Laurie Duesterhaus formerly was in charge- since she no longer has children in school we need to find a new volunteer.
Hospitality room: Tammy Hildebrand
Parking: Need an adult to supervise and get blockades from the city. FFA members usually help with this.
Scorers and Timers: Sue Woodworth

HOF committee has made their selections: Need to provide photo mats and frames – approx. $125. 10 nominees are: Curt Sellers, Josh Rabe, Sue Woodworth, Pat Keane, Bill Kretzer, and the 1986 Volleyball team.

Susan Blickhan brought up that the restrooms at the football are in poor condition – not sure who to contact about this.
·
Peggy Duesterhaus suggested making a donation toward band uniforms since they are used at sporting events. Item will be put on next month’s agenda.
AD report: Fall sports banquet will be Sun. Nov. 14, at 6:00. We will provide chicken strips.
Coach Asbury – Senior night is Friday. A win will get us into the playoffs, a loss will still have a possibility of making it into playoffs.
Seth Klusmeyer – JV Volleyball took 2nd at QND tournament. Varsity took 1st at Sherrard. Regionals begin Wednesday. Unity is 2nd seed.
Greg Hildebrand MS boys basketball began practice Monday. 6th is trying out –total so far is 24 among all three grades. Not a lot of size or quickness. Both 7th and
8th will play in the Rex Truebe tournament.
Carothers: On the first he will start 2 a days for a week.
Next meeting will be November 17 at 7:00.
