Minutes of Meeting September 11, 2013
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, September 11, in the Home ec room. Vice-President Hildebrand called the meeting to order.
The secretary’s report was given by Sarah Donley, and approved by Donna Jansen and Sue Woodworth.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister and approved by Sue Woodworth and Wendy Kuhn.
Membership: current membership is 100.
Old business:
· Discount cards: We have had two deposits that have added up to $6162 total so far, with some expected to be paid out for prizes.
· New member sign up: hoping for more from coaches encouragement at parents’ meetings.
· Pork chop stand update: had a good first night.
· Homecoming parade: Sara Klusmeyer volunteered to buy candy to throw.
New business:
· MVIT: Julie McAllister reported that Country Financial has offered to sponsor the tournament and will be selling raffle tickets for some large prizes. Gives a possibility of $2000 revenue. Seth Klusmeyer made a motion to accept and Tammy seconded. The tournament will be known this year as the “Country Financial MVIT”.
· Ticket taking signup: Seth will send Sarah the current sheet for signup to be distributed to club members.
· Fundraiser: Wendy told of local store policies that education groups can buy gift cards to the stores at a discount that can be sold for profit to the group. Mr. Kurz is checking into it.
· Winery event: Dates didn’t work out with the winery. A meal will be held Oct. 26 in the high school cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. There will be entertainment provided by our Unity athletes and votes on the best dessert brought in. We may still use the winery at a later date for another event. The cost for the Oct. 26 meal is $15 each, or $25 for 2.
Coaches reports:
Lauren Bentzinger: has been helping Sue with Middle School Volleyball .
Greg – MS softball volunteer program had 14 girls from the 7th and 8th grades. They lost 2 or 3 games – did very well. 5 were 8th graders, the rest 7th.
Rob Kuhn & Tim Nutt: MS girls basketball first game is September 24.
MS baseball record is 7-6, regionals are next week.
High School Volleyball is 5 and 3, they won the silver division of the Southeastern tournament, which made them 7th of 16 teams.
Next meeting will be Oct. 9 at 7:00 p.m.
Athletic Director’s Report – no ADs present.
