Unity Sports Boosters Club
Minutes of Meeting April 16, 2014
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, April 16, in the Middle School Cafeteria. President Klusmeyer called the meeting to order with 11 members present.
The secretary’s report was given by Sarah Donley, and approved by Donna Jansen and Susan Blickhan.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister and approved by Andy Obert and Brad Begeman.
Membership: current membership is 104.
Old business:
· 3 on 3 wrap up: Discussed raising admission price and entry fee for next year. The date for next year is March 21.
New business:
· Discount card for 2014-15 school year: We have been approached by a new company. The prizes are a little bit bigger. Going to a $15 card would increase the prizes. There would be a logon for additional discounts. The current companies stay local. Casey’s card is $20, return is $12. Return on a $15 card is $9. Richard and Christina Meyer will work on and report back next meeting.
· Nomination of officers: Donna and Christina volunteered to serve on a committee to nominate officers.
· Ted’s Shirt Shack: Susan suggested sending a note to Ted’s on the death of the owner. She will send the note to Christina.
· Trivia night: They turned two teams away this year. St. Edwards church only charges $50 and has a kitchen, therefore Andy Obert suggested keeping the teams limited to 15. $75 and $84 are the only expenses. Donna Jansen made a motion to give $500 to the golf fund, seconded by Andy.
· Girls basketball uniforms: Brad Begeman asked that the club pay half for the new uniforms, which is $2500. Donna made the motion and Sherry Fuller seconded.
· Middle school baseball uniforms: a max amount of $1000 was approved in the same motion.
· Bleachers: Richard has discussed bleachers with Brian Kurz. Upgrading the bleachers would cause a loss of about 20% of seating. There is also talk of expanding the bleachers on the football field.
AD Report: WIVC for football has added Beardstown in place of ISD, who dropped out of the conference. This year, Fisher will play in their schedule slot.
MVIT: Payson has returned their contract and 7 total teams have confirmed for this year.
She has scheduled a meeting with all coaches to discuss fundraising and other issues upfront.
Coaches reports:
Sara Stoll has started open gyms and has camp scheduled for June 24-25. The elementary camp will be June 14-16.
Brad Begeman: Elementary camp will be July 16-18 from 6-9 p.m. Varsity camp will be held with a coach from Florida. Three of the girls made all conference this year and they have been invited to play in JWCC’s Rumble on the River next year.
Keith Carothers will be coaching the all star game, Alex, Will and Lane will be playing.
Motion to adjourn made by Susan Blickhan and Donna Jansen.
