Unity Sports Boosters Club
Minutes of Meeting November 13, 2013
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, November 13, in the MS Cafeteria. Vice President Hildebrand called the meeting to order with 20 members and one visitor present.
The secretary’s report was given by Sarah Donley, and approved by Keith Carothers and Paul Littleton.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister and approved by Sue Woodworth and Susan Blickhan.
Membership: current membership is 102.
Old business:
· Discount cards: 3 checks for a total of $8635 have been received. Mrs. Meyer reported that in the future there should be less places to turn cards in. Mr. Dorethy is working with VW to resolve this. We are still profitable, but could be doing better, and will plan to continue next year. The kids really like the incentives given. Pam Venvertloh asked about having different cards for different ages of kids.
· Pork chop stand update: Donna reported another successful year and asked for suggestions for improvement for next year, and received none.
· MVIT: format change due to the number of teams (6). The dates are Dec. 26, 27, 28 and 30. Teams will play pool play the first three nights and the championship will be Monday. We will only be using the high school gym, and there will be two games per night. HOF awards will be between two games on Saturday.
o Honorary coaches – Richard will chair
o Announcers – Sue Woodworth
o Rope Holders (3 for each game) – still need a chair
o Music – still need a chair – Mrs. Meyer has purchased a device that will prevent skipping of music (esp. during national anthem!)
Passes: regular charge without a pass is $5/night, $3 for students. Mrs. Meyer made motion to keep the price of passes at $12. Student passes $7, Senior passes $10. Seniors are age 62 and up and that will be posted. No senior discount without buying a pass. Julie McAllister 2nd motion.
· Talent night dinner: Total of $1873 was raised.
New business:
· Andrew Asbury from Royal Printing presented some ideas for fundraising.
· Trivia night: Some of the planners from previous years have asked for someone else to find the questions so they can play. Need two couples to volunteer. Date still not determined.
AD report: Mrs. Meyer thanked the club for support and help with the officials. She also asked the club to provide food for the fall sports banquet. Donna Jansen made the motion and Tammy Hildebrand 2nd.
Coaches reports:
Keith Carothers: Despite Lane getting hurt, conditioning went well with lots of hard workers. Two-a-days are this week. Lots of senior leadership. Expecting a good season. First game is Wed. November 27. Suns Classic will be a four-team round robin. Nothing at QND this year.
Brad Begeman: 20 girls Ali and Maggie currently injured. Tuesday is the first game, opening up against three major teams. Josh Arnsman is excited to be here from Griggsville-Perry.
