Unity Sports Boosters Club
Minutes of Meeting December 3, 2014
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, December 3, in the Middle School Cafeteria. President Klusmeyer called the meeting to order with 13 members present.
The secretary’s report was given by Sarah Donley, and approved by Sue Woodworth and Peggy Duesterhaus.
The treasurer’s report was given by Kelly Miller and approved by Craig Burwinkle and Donna Jansen.
Membership: current membership is 84.
Old business:
Brad Begeman: sent report that the Varsity girls basketball team is currently 4-0. Last night they defeated Illini West 50-43, making only the 2nd time in UHS Varsity Girls Basketball that Unity has beaten Illini West… dating back even to the old Carthage Blue Girl days. The first was three years ago at Beardstown for 5th place out of 27 teams. The girls are playing very hard and handling the pressure of varsity very well considering who we are playing and our opponents’ experience.
The JV is 3-2 and showing signs of improvements each game. They will be competing in the Unity Tournament as well next week. Each year, many schools drop JV games, especially later in the season, so for our girls to get this extra experience to play varsity teams will be very beneficial down the road.
Rob Kuhn – 7th grade girls ended their season 18-5 and lost in the regional championship, they were much improved over the year. 8th grade currently 19-4 and play for regional championship tomorrow night.
Next meeting will be Wednesday, January 7.
Meeting was adjourned by Sue Woodworth and Donna Jansen.
