Unity Sports Boosters Club
Minutes of Meeting August 18, 2010
The Unity Sports Boosters Club met on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in the Middle School Cafeteria. President Goertz called the meeting to order with 18 members present.
The secretary’s report from July was approved by Sue Woodworth and Donna Jansen.
The treasurer’s report was given by Julie McAllister. She reported a beginning balance of 26,434.80 with receipts of 149.00, and disbursements of 181.10.
The ending balance is 26,402.70, with 16,402.70 in the checking account. There are two $5,000 CDs. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sue Woodworth and Susan Blickhan.
Membership: 82
Old business:
·
Trophy Case – has been ordered. Hiland is having surgery and will start after he has healed.
·
Fencing: Waiting for check. Interior repairs must be made before exterior ones may be made.
·
Meet the Mustangs – Susan Blickhan will man the table at the volleyball game, and Rick Goertz at the football field.
·
Homecoming parade: Julie McAllister made a motion to allocate $150 toward a float for sports boosters. Susan Blickhan 2nd.
·
Tailgate:will be doing at all home games and looking for volunteers to help.
·
Football PA system: brackets have been made, should be finished next week.
·
Baseball/softball dirt: Greg plans to make the improvements after the Middle School season is over.
·
Baseball scoreboard: Pepsi will pay for if we have enough credits built up from our purchases from them.
New Business:
·
Girls Varsity Basketball uniforms: request for 16 uniforms – cost is $3200 for full set of two each. JV will use the old ones. Motion to approve made by Rob Kuhn and 2nd by Keith Carothers.
·
Football field paint: due to cuts, school will pay for the white, but not the maroon. Cathy Wittler asked if the surplus from the PA wire could be used for the paint.
Motion to approve made by Sue Woodworth, 2nd by Marcia Cornwell.

Gym wall mural: The design has been approved by Mr. Dorethy. Miss Mayberry will select a few art students to help her paint it in the few weeks while there are no volleyball games.

Boys’basketball team posters : funding rec’d from the area businesses. $25 for a 2x2 space. They will be sold for approximately $5. Donna Jansen made a motion to take out a $100 ad for the club, 2nd by Seth Klusmeyer.
AD report: Calendars and schedules are in, season passes are available. The MS baseball sectional will be here and also the Volleyball regional.
Football: Scrimmage is Friday – open at Carrollton 7:00 Aug. 27 and JV at home Aug. 30 6:30.
Volleyball starts next Tuesday – there are 17 JV and 13 Varsity players.
Golf started Monday, 11 out. They will be doing a fundraiser to pay for transportation expenses.
Next meeting will be September 15 at 7:00
